British Fencing is the National Governing Body for the sport of fencing. They work closely with Sport England and oversee the safe management of all fencing activities.

As a British Fencing Affiliated Club, KSFC requires all members to be BF members. Membership levels vary, with a 90-day free membership available to new fencers. Recreational membership starts from £19.50 per year for under 18 year-old fencers, which is the minimum level of membership required to fence at KSFC. The 90-day free membership is Recreational Membership.

All our coaches and voluntary coaches are BF members and are authorised by BF to carry out their coaching duties.

BF membership confers a number of benefits on all members:

  • Full insurance for sports accidents when participating in any BF event and/or training at a BF Affiliated Club or Organisation.
  • Full liability insurance when participating in any BF event and/or training at a BF Affiliated Club or Organisation.
  • Electronic issues of The Sword magazine, the official magazine of fencing in the UK.
  • Authorisation to participate in local, regional and national competitions (with the correct Compete level of membership).
  • Access to BF Perks which provides all members with lifestyle discounts, a range of online courses, video workouts, and wellbeing tracking and management.
  • Access to Fencing Digest, a weekly email summary of all the latest fencing news and announcements.
